The Viola in my Life is one of innovative American composer Morton Feldman's (1926-1987) most important works, and this is the first ECM album devoted entirely to his work. Morton Feldman developed into one of the most important and influential musical thinkers in American composition. Performed by Norway's versatile chamber group, the Cikada Ensemble and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra under the direction of Christian Eggen. His is a radical music but also a music unafraid of beauty. The Cikada, associated with ECM since 1995 have worked in a wide range of contexts and built a substantial following across the genres.
