Amanda Mae Stott, born May 10, 1982 in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. Amanda grew up on her family farm. Her father was a dance band musician (piano, saxophone) and also palyed banjo and accordion at home. And Amanda's brother Conrad would play
drums.
Amanda started singing in her church choir when she was three years old.
In 1999, she won a Juno Award for Best New Solo Artist.
Amanda Stott's self-titled debut CD in 2000 was "Amanda Stott". Her follow up CD in 2005 was "Chasing The Sky".
Amanda is one of my favorite artists to listen to. Even though others have classified her music as "Country", I feel that is a generalization that puts her music into a small box that it does not belong in. If I were to create a music
category, I would say "Uplifting". Her music (on both her CD's) contains refreshing energy and listening to her music recharges you. I look forward to hearing more music from Amanda Stott, a very talented singer.
