The Turtles are one of the most fondly remembered '60s pop acts--quite an achievement considering that they came up in an era dominated by Motown, The Beatles and other musical giants. After releasing a series of chart-topping singles, including the #1 hit "Happy Together," the band broke up in 1970. Singers Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan continued as a duo under the name Flo & Eddie, recording albums, hosting their own syndicated radio show, and singing backup for T. Rex, John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, Blondie, and many others. In 1985, they reformed The Turtles as a very successful touring outfit.
Happy Together: The Very Best Of The Turtles collects the band's biggest hits, including the career-defining "Happy Together" and Top 20 smash hits "You Showed Me," "You Baby," and "Elenore." The album also features an early Warren Zevon-penned song, "Outside Chance," and Bob Dylan's "It Ain't Me Babe," as well as the classic protest anthem "Eve of Destruction."
