The Velvet Devil, written by Andrea Menard with music co-written with Robert Walsh, is an original, one-woman play that premiered in the 2000-2001 season at The Globe Theatre in Regina, Saskatchewan. The play, which is told through song and storytelling, is about a Metis singer from the 1940's struggling to come home. The Velvet Devil is a Metis story, a Saskatchewan story, a Canadian story and a human story told in a way that has never been told before. The music from the play, which is a nostalgic mix of jazz, blues, and roots, was recorded at Studio Tempo in Montreal and the CD was produced and arranged by Anthony Rozankovic.
